Planning a trip to Disney can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially for first-time visitors. With so many attractions, dining options, and experiences to choose from, it’s easy to feel lost in the magic. But fear not! This guide is packed with essential tips to help you navigate your Disney adventure like a pro annnnd you have the option of enlisting this actual pro (me) as your FREE trip planning Fairy Godmother!

Understand the Parks
Disney World is made up of four main parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Each park offers unique experiences, so it’s crucial to understand what each one has to offer.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is the heart of Disney World, featuring iconic attractions like Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. This park is perfect for families with young children, as it has a wide range of rides and character meet-and-greets. BUT hold the phone, this isn't just a kiddie playground, there are thrill rides like TRON, elevated dining for the perfect date night and the new Beak & Barrel lounge where you can enjoy a themed cocktail all while channeling your inner pirate.
EPCOT
EPCOT is divided into four neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery. While it sounds all very educational and maybe a little snoozy, EPCOT truly has something for everyone. From thrilling attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to family favorites like Frozen Ever After and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure your attraction "dance card" will be full.
Festival time hits four times a year with the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival and EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Each festival brings unique food, drinks, merchandise and entertainment and are FANTASTIC ways to experience this innovative park.
Disney's Hollywood Studios

This park is all about movies and entertainment. With attractions like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land, it’s a must-visit for film buffs and thrill-seekers alike. Don’t miss the nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic!
Hollywood Studios is also the ONLY park with an attraction dedicated to Mickey Mouse. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is the only attraction dedicated to the big boss man. How crazy is THAT?!
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom combines a theme park with a zoo. It features thrilling rides like Expedition Everest and immersive experiences like Pandora – The World of Avatar. This park is perfect for animal lovers and those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.
Animal Kingdom is in the midst of a major glow-up. As the former Dinoland USA became extinct, Imagineers began work on the 11-acre, Tropical Americas land. Set to open in 2027, guests can expect to be immersed in the colorful world of Encanto and go on a wild Indiana Jones adventure!
Bluey fans-Bluey and pals will be calling Conservation Station home for their brand new meet & greet beginning summer 2026!
Plan Your Visit
Choose the Right Time
Of course, sometimes we really are just at the mercy of our schedules and juggling a family's calendar can be a tall order. However, timing your visit can significantly impact your experience. Consider visiting during off-peak seasons, such as mid-January to mid-February or late August into September. These times typically have lower crowd levels, shorter wait times, and more availability for dining reservations.
As your FREE trip planning partner, we will chat about your calendar and determine which dates may line up with the lowest crowds and lower pricing. If traveling at peak times like Spring Break or the holidays is where your heart leads, I will be here with ALL the tips to maximize your days, help steer clear of the crowds and make your trip as seamless and magical as possible.
Make Dining Reservations

Disney offers a variety of dining experiences, from quick-service to fine dining. Popular restaurants like Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table and dinig with the Evil Queen at Storybook Dining at Artist Point fill up quickly, so make reservations as early as possible—up to 60 days in advance. Part of my (free) concierge level service is securing reservations that are on your dining wish list.
Not sure where to eat-I am a HUGE fan of Disney dining and have eaten at just about ALL the spots. I am happy to offer suggestions to help narrow the field. Additionally, with your final trip info packet, I will also offer up some suggestions for the available Quick Service dining locations.
My booking assistance doesn't end with just getting you fed... how about your Princess' royal treatment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique? Lightsabers at Savi's Workshop? Droid building at Droid DePot? Chartered fireworks cruise? Dessert Parties? Holiday Party tickets? Tours? Check-check-checking off alllll the checks! I am here to help you snag the enchanting extras that will make your trip truly unforgettable.
What the heck is Lightning Lane?
Disney's Lightning Lane products allow you to skip the regular lines for select attractions. For a small fee, you can reserve access to popular rides, saving you valuable time.
There is Lightning Lane MultiPass, Lightning Lane SinglePass and Lightning Lane Premier Pass...even just reading all the names can be daunting. As your trip planning partner, I am here to explain the differences, educate you on the ins and outs, provide tips and tricks as well as give you booking tutorials, planning sheets and of course always be on hand to answer questions. (Not the time to trust Chat or AI, go with the human help, especially when it is FREE!)
Pack Smart
Essentials to Bring
When packing for your Disney trip, consider bringing the following essentials:
Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so wear shoes that provide support. This is NOT the trip to break in those cute, new shoes.
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the day. Disney allows you to bring refillable water bottles into the parks. You can also get FREE ice water for those bottles at any kiosk that has a soda fountain in the parks.
Poncho or Rain Jacket: Florida weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared for sudden rain showers. Parks ponchos are pricey, you'll need one, so purchase that in advance. Better safe than soggy!
Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the Florida sun, especially if you plan to spend the entire day outdoors.

Leave the Extras Behind
While it’s tempting to pack everything, try to keep your luggage light. Disney provides many amenities, and you can purchase items you may need at the parks. (And c'mon...oops, didn't pack enough shirts and need to buy a few adorable t-shirts, no one will ever have to know if that was an accident or not.)
For good measure, I will always provide a comprehensive packing list in your final trip packet. (Who doesn't love marking items off a list?!)
Know the Rides

Must-Do Attractions
Each park has its must-do attractions. Here are some highlights:
Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion, TRON and Tana's Bayou Adventure
Epcot: Soarin' Around the World, Test Track, Cosmic Rewind and Frozen Ever After.
Disney's Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, and Tower of Terror.
Disney's Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and on a typical Florida scorcher day, Kali River Rapids will be your best pal!
Height Requirements
Before you go, check the height requirements for rides, especially if you’re traveling with young children. This will help you manage expectations and avoid disappointment. In your final trip packet, I will send park maps to you that will have those height restrictions to review to help you plan those days accordingly to help avoid any meltdowns.
Take Advantage of Mobile Apps
Disney's official app, My Disney Experience, is a valuable tool for first-time visitors. (For ALL visitors, actually!) It provides real-time information on wait times, showtimes, and dining availability. You can also use the app to order food ahead of time, which can save you from waiting in long lines. We will chat about the MDE app's functionality from the moment we get you booked. Step by step the app will be where your trip comes to life.
The app will be where I book your dining reservations, where your Lightning Lanes are purchased and where I can finalize that early online check-in for you so you can get a heads up the second your room is ready. You will be an expert in the app long before you arrive, I'll make sure of it!
Experience the Parades and Fireworks
Don’t miss the parades and nighttime fireworks shows. These events are a highlight of the Disney experience. Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot, especially for popular shows like Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom.
Stay On-Site or Nearby
Benefits of Staying On-Site
Staying at a Disney Resort offers several advantages, including:
Early Park Entry: Enjoy early access to the parks before they open to the general public.
Transportation: Complimentary transportation to and from the parks makes getting around easy.
Themed Experiences: Each resort has its unique theme, adding to the overall Disney experience.
Be IMMERSED: Staying on site means you will be immersed in the Disney magic 24/7. Top notch guest service and the outside world truly melts away when you allow yourself to just beeeee in that magical bubble.
Where to Stay?
As we begin our "getting to know each other" conversations, we will chat about the various Disney Resort pricing tiers, what they all offer and what makes them each special. We will discuss your budget, what is important to YOU when it comes to where you rest your head and work until we find the perfect place for you to call home during your Disney stay.
If after you have placed your deposit, a promotion is released that can save you money on your vacation package, I will work to apply that savings for you...most of the time before you've even had your morning coffee.
Be Flexible
While planning is essential, it’s also important to remain flexible. Unexpected changes can happen, whether it’s a ride closure or a sudden rainstorm. Embrace the spontaneity and enjoy the magic of Disney. When traveling with kiddos, you truly never know what will resonate with them. In Disney especially, it is important to stop and smell the roses (or churros), splash in the puddles and soak in every ounce of magic.

Capture the Memories
PhotoPass and Memory Maker
Consider purchasing Disney's PhotoPass or Memory Maker service. This allows you to capture professional photos throughout the parks without worrying about taking pictures yourself. You can focus on enjoying the moment while the photographers handle the rest. Guests can purchase MemoryMaker for a discounted price when purchased before their arrival.
As part of our booking process, we will chat about this product and how nice it is to get everyone in the picture without it having to be a selfie! (Even Mom-Moms, when was the last time YOU were in the family trip pics?!)
Take Your Own Photos
Don’t forget to take your own photos as well. Capture candid moments with your family and friends and document your favorite attractions and experiences. Work those selfies, get those silly shots-those will be your favorites of the trip.
